“If you are looking for someone who will not only work with you, but bring out the best in you, Jim’s your man.Jim knows how to work with people as individuals. With our college students, he was able to bring out the best in them and reignite their own excitement for their pitches. He doesn’t teach, he engages – he saw the potential in each student’s presentation and worked with each student holistically to help them feel confident on stage. ” – Carter Crockett, Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership at Gordon College
Jim works with clients on strategy, planning and problem solving, while helping them to develop business skills and knowledge. Topics range from designing a business model or marketing plan, to determining which marketing techniques to use and how to use them. Jim helps clients learn how to plan and implement projects. Unlike coaching a consultant gives advice, teaches skills, and brainstorms with the client to produce practical results and enhance strategic thinking. Jim's consulting work is not only applicable to conventional business but for those building careers in the creative / performing arts as well.
What is Coaching?
Coaching, as defined by mindtools, is a useful way of developing a person's skills and abilities, and of boosting performance. It can also help deal with issues and challenges before they become major problems.
Confidential, one-on-one coaching sessions with Jim take place via the phone or Skype and focus on helping the client discover answers for themselves. People are much more likely to engage with solutions that they have come up with, rather than those that are forced upon them.
Most formal, professional coaching is carried out by qualified people who work with clients to improve their effectiveness and performance, and help them achieve their full potential. Coaches can be hired by individuals, or by their organizations. Coaching works best when everyone clearly understands the reason for hiring a coach, and when they jointly set the expectations for what they want to achieve through coaching.
