What is Coaching?
Coaching, as defined by mindtools, is a useful way of developing a person's skills and abilities, and of boosting performance. It can also help deal with issues and challenges before they become major problems.
Confidential, one-on-one coaching sessions with Jim take place via the phone or Skype and focus on helping the client discover answers for themselves. People are much more likely to engage with solutions that they have come up with, rather than those that are forced upon them.
Most formal, professional coaching is carried out by qualified people who work with clients to improve their effectiveness and performance, and help them achieve their full potential. Coaches can be hired by individuals, or by their organizations. Coaching works best when everyone clearly understands the reason for hiring a coach, and when they jointly set the expectations for what they want to achieve through coaching.
Personal coaching can be helpful in nearly every area of life. Getting unstuck, figuring out what's next, weight loss, relationship challenges and finding direction are all things that can come up in personal coaching sessions. It's important to note that personal coaching is not an alternative to therapy. While depression, anxiety and mental illness are not addressed in coaching, many who live with these challenges find having a coach to be a helpful addition to working with a qualified therapist.
Here are a few examples of questions that you can answer with the benefit of coaching:
· How can I manage my time better to achieve all I want in life?
· How can I get unstuck?
· What should I do next in my career within the organization?
· How can I reduce the stress in my job or my life?
· What can I do to transform my body and enjoy the process?
· How can I achieve a better balance between work life and home life?
· What skills do I need to grow and develop further?
· How can I improve my relationships?

"Jim Trick has been an annual speaker at the Berklee College of Music's Professional Development Seminar. He is a most powerful speaker. This is reinforced by looking at my student's faces while Jim is presenting his talk...which actually can be called a performance, in the best sense of the word. It is rare and welcome to hear a speaker who actually walks the walk to back up what he is saying with real, practical, hard fought wisdom. Jim's is a transformative message. He is an inspiration not just because his tells his story, but relates his lessons to our real life which gives his listeners practical life changing inspiration."

Jim works with clients on strategy, planning and problem solving, while helping them to develop business skills and knowledge. Topics range from designing a business model or marketing plan, to determining which marketing techniques to use and how to use them. Jim helps clients learn how to plan and implement projects. Unlike coaching a consultant gives advice, teaches skills, and brainstorms with the client to produce practical results and enhance strategic thinking. Jim's consulting work is not only applicable to conventional business but for those building careers in the creative / performing arts as well.
